Mountain hike into the heart of the Alpstein

Hiking tip up to the Berggasthaus Bollenwees (mountain inn).

The small cable car takes you comfortably from Pfannenstiel to Alp Sigel. Enjoy the view during the journey. There is a magnificent view from the ridge of Alp Sigel and a narrow gravel track takes you to the alpine buildings of the alpine co-operative and the inviting alpine farm. Via the beautiful alpine path and through sparse, fragrant forest, you reach Alp Obere Mans with new views on the north side of the central Alpstein chain. Return to the south side at the narrow crossing, the Bogartenlücke with the striking rock spur, the "Bogartenmannli". The zigzag path now leads up to the Rheintaler Sämtis alp (with alpine cheese dairy) and from there a short, pleasant ascent through the boot forest to the inviting Bollenwees mountain inn, idyllically situated on the fjord-like Fählensee lake. After stopping for refreshments, you follow the gravel track gently downhill to the Sämtisersee lake, where a short ascent follows before you descend steeply through the Brüeltobel ravine to the Pfannenstiel and then flat out to Brülisau. If you want to avoid the steep Brüeltobel, we recommend the alternative route via Rainhütten and Berggasthaus Ruhesitz to Brülisau.
